Antonio Del Castillo
Antonio Del Castillo, born in Munich in 2004 has – despite his young age – already found a remarkable place in the music world through continuous development and diverse experiences.
He is already known as a multiple award winner in national and international competitions. At the German Youth Competition “Jugend musiziert” 2022, Del Castillo secured 1st prize with the highest score and received a special prize (meetMUSIC open air concert in Mettingen). He also won the „Friedrich Lips Cup“ at the Accordion Music Prize 2021. His international successes includes the 1st prize in the junior category of the 75th Coupe Mondiale 2022.
At the age of 17, Antonio Del Castillo was accepted as one of the youngest scholarship holders of the „Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now e.V“ association and expanded his stage experience through numerous concerts, which also served as a philanthropic extension.
Antonio has appeared on some of Germany’s most important stages.
In April 2023 he was the only accordionist invited to take part in the premiere of Mark Barden’s work „the weight of ash“ as part of the Federal Youth Orchestra. This gave him experience in renowned concert halls such as the Cologne Philharmonic and the Berlin Philharmonic.
The following month he appeared in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic as a soloist as part of the “Pantonale Peace” Festival together with the aspiring violin virtuoso Andrea Cicalese. They performed the premiere of an arrangement of Mikołaj Majkusiak’s work „Sonata for Violin and Accordion“, accompanied by the “New Chamber Philharmonics Potsdam”.
Del Castillo’s upcoming concerts include performances at various festivals such as the Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival, Rheingau Musikfestival, Sophie Pacini’s „Nuancen“ Festival in Aying and Musikfest Mosel.
Since September 2023, he studies at the University of Music in Donostia-San Sebastián/Spain by Professor Iñaki Alberdi, Professor Miren Iñarga and Professor Marko Ševarlič.
